Dr. Roberta Hemmer joined Poultney Veterinary Hospital as an associate veterinarian in May 2025, but was born and raised in Rutland County. After attending the University of Vermont to receive a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science in 2014, she earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University in 2018. She worked near Stowe, then Vergennes, before settling in Rutland County again to be nearer to friends and family. She has a soft spot for cats (especially the sassy ones!) and enjoys surgery, dentistry, and internal medicine. She has 5 cats and is auntie to a Welsh Springer Spaniel, Vivian. She’s professionally affiliated with the American Veterinary Medical Association, and serves as a volunteer speaker for the Governor’s Institute and a local high school.
