Services for Females
- Breeding Soundness Evaluation- this is done at the beginning of every breeding cycle and includes reviewing the full reproductive history, current medications, discussing the breeding plan for the current cycle and performing a physical exam.
- Ovulation Timing- We perform serial vaginal cytologies and measure progesterone in-house (results in 20 minutes) to assist in timing of both natural and assisted breedings.
- Artificial Insemination- We can perform side-by-side artificial inseminations using freshly collected semen or can receive chilled, shipped semen for artificial insemination.
Special Note: We are happy to perform ovulation timing to plan for insemination using frozen semen, but no longer perform surgical inseminations. With the high safety and efficacy of trans-cervical inseminations (TCI), surgical inseminations now present an unnecessary risk. We are happy to refer you to reproductive clinics able to perform TCI.
- Pregnancy Diagnosis- an ultrasound is performed 25-30 days after ovulation. Ultrasound is a safe and accurate way to diagnose and evaluate the health of a pregnancy. Radiographs are also taken one-two weeks before the due date to accurately determine fetal numbers.
- Medical pregnancy termination- On a case by case basis, we are able to offer medical pregnancy termination after accidental breedings- this is NEVER cheaper than performing a spay and is reserved for those bitches with extremely valuable genetics. Consultations can help owners decide how they wish to proceed with accidental pregnancies.
Heritable Disease Testing for Males and Females
- OFA hips, elbow, patella and thyroid evaluation
- DNA test submission for breed specific disease screening
